Haymaking, Éragny. Pissarro

Éragny is the rural population where Pissarro spent most of his life, from when he settled with his family in 1884 until his death in 1903. The various landscapes captivated the mind of this master, among the hundreds of paintings inspired by this same village, there are all kinds of colorations, shades, climates, and times of the day.

Specifically in this painting, Pissarro uses very light citrus tones, applying the paint following the pointillism method. The shadow in the foreground vibrates against an illuminated landscape that seems endless, the poses of the peasants are shown jovial and even convey the intrinsic joy of their work.
