Red Nude, Modigliani

"Red Nude", a painting created by Modigliani between 1917 and 1918, is also known as "Reclining Nude with Open Arms". In the painting, with a strong erotic charge, we find a young woman lying with her arms open on a red sofa. The work embodies the search for the perfect line, the artist's torment, capable of summarizing, simplifying, and reproducing the essence of a body, almost transforming it into a sculpture. In "Red Nude," the double essence of Modigliani, both classical and modern, stands out, which will accompany him in his artistic journey of discovery, but also of return to tradition. In this case, it is impossible not to notice the parallelism with Goya's "The Nude Maja."
