Flowers in a Crystal Vase, Manet

This painting by Édouard Manet has an earlier version made two years prior, that is, in 1880, which features somewhat less vibrant tones in its color palette. Observing the differences between the two versions can pose a challenge for the inexperienced eye. Embedded in the cultural movement of 19th-century French Impressionism, it can be stated, without fear of being mistaken, that it represents one of the most outstanding artistic expressions of its kind, specifically, in Still Life.
Some meticulously defined white roses in the foreground serve to capture the viewer's attention, while the background flowers, with a less defined outline, intense colors, and yellow highlights, bordering on golden, endow the work with exceptionally remarkable depth and volume.
